For such an ambitious goal, there are quite a few models out there for how communities have planned to build and finance renewable energy infrastructure to have our energy grid powered from 100% renewable energy sources.
The International Panel on Climate Change has given us roughly 10 years to get completely off fossil fuels, which brings us right to 2030 if we start today. There are over 90 US Cities and two states that have already adopted 100% clean energy commitments. 6 US Cities are already 100% powered by renewables.
Yolo County has been a leader in renewable energy generation but there is still much work to do to have our infrastructure become fossil-free. What we envision and what we are working towards is the County of Yolo, Cities of Davis, West Sacramento, Winters, and Woodland all collaborate on a joint effort to have reached a 100% renewable energy-powered grid by 2030.
Please contact us if you would like to join the working group towards this effort.
